On the weekend of April 19-20, Copper Mountain Resort hosted, “one of the biggest, baddest snowboarding events anywhere.” According to Outside Magazine’s 1996/97 Winter Travel issue. On saturday the Nike Snowboard Derby was a ProAm boardercross competition with $75,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Sunday’s Supercross challenge was the first “team” boardercross with $125,000 for the teams that could push, shove and ride to the finish-line.
