Plenty of action was seen by all who attended the 1997 Supercross event.  On the second day of the event spectators crowded near the midway point of the course.  It was here that course designers threw a twist into the course.  One could either choose to jump the gap or go through the gap that was being jumped.  This made for some tense moments, especially when someone wouldn't quite clear the gap and would slam into the wall, nearly hitting or in some cases, hitting the competitors below.
